How Long Does a Remodel Take in Las Vegas?
Realistic timelines, and the three things that actually cause delays.
Most people ask how long the work takes. The more useful question is how long the whole thing takes, because on a lot of projects the construction is the shorter half.
Cabinets have lead times. Plan check has a queue. An HOA board meets when it meets. None of that shows up as days on a job site, and all of it shows up on your calendar.
Typical timelines
Construction time, plus the lead time that comes before it.
| Scope | Typical range | What that buys |
|---|---|---|
| Interior repaint | 3 – 5 days | Whole-house interior. Prep is most of it. Little to no lead time. |
| Hardwood floor install | 4 – 8 days | Plus material acclimation in your house before installation begins. |
| Bathroom remodel | 3 – 5 weeks | Tile and waterproofing have cure times that cannot be compressed. |
| Kitchen remodel | 6 – 10 weeks | Plus cabinet and countertop lead time, often several weeks, before day one. |
| Basement finish | 6 – 12 weeks | Framing, egress, mechanicals, inspections, finishes. |
| Room addition | 2 – 4 months | Plus 2 – 4 months of design, engineering, permits, and HOA before breaking ground. |
Ranges reflect what projects of this scope generally run in the Las Vegas valley. They are not a quote — every house is different, and ours are free.
It is almost never the crew working slowly
Material lead times
Cabinets, countertops, tile, and specialty fixtures all have to arrive before they can be installed. Locking selections early is the single most effective thing a homeowner can do to protect a schedule.
Approvals
Plan check and HOA review run on their own clock. Starting both early and in parallel saves more time than any decision made on site.
Change orders
Every mid-project change ripples. Deciding to move a wall in week three does not cost a week — it costs the resequencing of everything downstream of that wall.
Inspections
Work has to stop and wait for an inspector before it gets covered. Scheduling these tightly is a real skill and it is why sequencing matters.
What is behind the wall
On older Las Vegas homes, opening a wall sometimes reveals plumbing or wiring that has to be addressed. Good contractors carry a contingency for this and tell you about it up front.
Too many trades, no coordinator
The classic self-managed project failure: the tiler arrives before the plumber finished, leaves, and cannot come back for two weeks. This is exactly what a general contractor prevents.
Remodeling timelines in Las Vegas
Why does my quote have a longer timeline than another one?
Often because it is the honest one. A schedule that ignores cabinet lead time and plan check is not faster, it is just wrong earlier.
Can you work weekends to finish sooner?
Some trades can. Inspections cannot, cure times cannot, and in condos and HOA communities weekend work is frequently prohibited outright.
What if the project runs late?
Things happen — a backordered material, an unexpected condition. What matters is being told early with a revised date, not discovering it in week eight. We give you updates whether or not the news is good.
Should I move out during the work?
For a full kitchen or an only-bathroom remodel, many people do. For most other projects, no. We seal work areas and keep the rest of the house livable.
When is the best time of year to remodel in Las Vegas?
Interior work runs year-round. Exterior work, stucco, and anything on a roof are far more pleasant and often better quality outside the peak summer heat.
How far ahead should I book?
For a large project, start the conversation two to three months before you want construction to begin, so design and approvals are not the bottleneck.
